ChatGPT Service Restored After Global Disruption: OpenAI Investigates Cause

ChatGPT recently experienced a global outage, leaving many users unable to access the popular AI chatbot. Reports flooded in, indicating widespread issues with the service.

According to Downdetector, a website that tracks outages, a significant number of users reported problems accessing OpenAI's ChatGPT. Approximately 91% of those affected experienced issues while attempting to use the chatbot. Specifically, 7% of users were unable to access the website entirely, while the remaining users faced difficulties logging into their ChatGPT accounts. The disruption prompted users to take to social media platform X to voice their concerns and report the outage.

OpenAI Acknowledges and Resolves the Issue

OpenAI addressed the situation through its official status page, acknowledging the "increased latency and errors affecting both ChatGPT and APIs." The company assured users that they were working to resolve the problem.

Fortunately, the outage was short-lived. According to the OpenAI Status page, the service is now back online, and the latency issues have been resolved. "Performance is now back to normal," the page stated.

The TOI Tech team independently verified the restoration, successfully accessing ChatGPT through both the web interface and the mobile application. The chatbot appears to be functioning correctly without any apparent issues.
