The 30-year-old Archer is set to make his first Test appearance since February 2021. He is in contention to add to his 13 Test caps when the second Test commences at Edgbaston in Birmingham on July 2nd.

Archer's return to the squad follows his recent participation in red-ball cricket for Sussex against Durham in the County Championship. His last Test match was also against India in 2021, after which he faced a series of injuries, including a back stress fracture. These injuries sidelined him until 2024, after which he returned to white-ball cricket in May of the previous year.

The remainder of the England squad remains unchanged from the first Test in Leeds, where the hosts secured a five-wicket victory.

The remaining three Tests of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 series will be held at Lord's (July 10-14), Old Trafford in Manchester (July 23-27), and The Oval (July 31-August 4).

England Squad for 2nd Test:

Ben Stokes (C), Jofra Archer, Shoaib Bashir, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Cook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Jamie Overton, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jamie Smith, Josh Tongue, Chris Woakes.
