Birmingham: Jasprit Bumrah's intensity was palpable the moment he entered the Edgbaston Cricket Ground nets. With a focused stride and his signature shoulder rotation, he immediately took his position at the center net, signaling his intent for a rigorous session.

Following a brief warm-up consisting of gentle deliveries, Bumrah gradually increased his pace. Seemingly at ease, he marked his run-up, preparing for a full-throttle 20-minute spell. With Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Rishabh Pant absent from the session, Bumrah directed his deliveries towards Sai Sudharsan, Ravindra Jadeja, and Karun Nair.

He challenged the batsmen with varied angles, bowling around the wicket to left-handers and utilizing the crease's width against right-handers. Beyond his skill, his mental freshness stood out. The three-day break from bowling had clearly rejuvenated the 31-year-old, who bowled alongside Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna.

The trio, fresh from the Headingley Test, focused on purpose during their second day of practice in Birmingham. Each bowler spent around thirty minutes bowling before practicing their batting in the nets.

Siraj honed his leaves, ducks, and forward defenses under the guidance of batting coach Sitanshu Kotak. Bumrah, on the other hand, sampled everything on offer, switching between side-armers, slow bowlers, and throwdowns. He maintained unwavering focus throughout his extended session, incorporating shadow practice while awaiting his turn to bat. Despite a shaky start, the right-hander gained confidence and looked assured by the session's end.

Business continued as usual in the other nets, with Ravindra Jadeja continuing his batting practice. Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep continued to impress, while Kuldeep Yadav diligently worked on both his batting and bowling. While Akash's or Arshdeep's inclusion hinges on Bumrah's availability, Kuldeep is leaving nothing to chance in his preparation.

The chinaman bowler is actively seeking feedback from the support staff and fellow players. He's open to experimenting with new angles and varying his lengths. The dry Birmingham weather could sway the Indian team management to consider him for the second Test.

His physical condition appears optimal, and his bowling rhythm is evident. He engaged in a gripping contest with Gill before the first Test and continues to relish his battles with Indian batters in Birmingham.

Kuldeep has dedicated hours to refining his batting skills under the watchful eyes of head coach Gautam Gambhir and batting coach Sitanshu Kotak. For the past 18 months, Kuldeep has been determined to improve his batting and is eager to make meaningful contributions with the bat.

Following two days of intense practice, the team will take a break before reconvening on June 30. The bowlers can rest and relax, while bowling coach Morne Morkel can continue his playful wrestling with Arshdeep and Akash Deep at the team hotel. As for Bumrah, his status remains uncertain for at least the next 48 hours.
