Pant Soars, Bumrah Holds Top Spot in Latest ICC Test Rankings
The latest ICC Test rankings reflect a dynamic shift in the global cricket landscape, driven by outstanding performances in both Test and T20I formats. Rishabh Pant of India and Ben Duckett of England are the major headliners, achieving new career-best positions following their remarkable performances in the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley.
Rishabh Pant has surged to seventh place in the ICC Test batting rankings after his memorable twin centuries at Headingley. The flamboyant wicketkeeper-batsman scored 134 and 118, becoming only the second wicketkeeper in Test history, after Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower in 2001, to achieve hundreds in both innings of a match. Pant also becomes the first Indian wicket-keeper batter to cross 800 Rating points in Test History.
Joe Root maintains his position as the top-ranked Test batter globally, while his fellow countryman Harry Brook remains in second place. India’s captain Shubman Gill has moved up five places to 20th position after his elegant century in the first innings.
India’s premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, retains his position as the world's No. 1 Test bowler following another five-wicket haul at Headingley, reaffirming his dominance with the red ball. England’s Ben Stokes, contributing effectively with both bat and ball, has climbed three places to secure the No. 5 spot in the Test all-rounder rankings, marking his highest position in recent months.
The T20I rankings have also seen significant movements after the tri-series in Glasgow, which featured the Netherlands, Nepal, and Scotland. Dutch batter Michael Levitt has jumped 16 places to 14th after a series of consistent performances. Scotland’s Brandon McMullen has also made a notable impression, rising 20 spots to joint 38th.
As the ICC rankings continue to serve as the benchmark for individual brilliance, every run scored and every wicket taken contributes to shaping the evolving hierarchy of cricket.
